About the Event

Join us as we recognize Indigenous Veterans Day, a time to honour the courage, resilience, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit veterans who have served in Canada’s armed forces.

Our Elder-in-Residence, Ken Pruden (Métis Nation), will be available in the Atrium to share stories from his remarkable Royal Canadian Air Force service (1955–1981).

This is a special opportunity to meet Elder Ken, hear his firsthand experiences, and learn about the barriers and triumphs faced by Indigenous veterans during and after their military service.

Come by the Atrium on Monday, Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to:

  • Connect with Elder Ken and hear his story
  • Learn about the legacy of Indigenous service in Canada’s military
  • Show your support and gratitude to those who served

About Indigenous Veterans Day

Each year on Nov. 8, Canada observes Indigenous Veterans Day, first commemorated in Winnipeg in 1994. This day acknowledges the exceptional contributions of Indigenous Peoples to Canada’s military efforts – both at home and abroad – and the unique challenges many faced upon returning home.

On Nov. 11 (Remembrance Day), we continue this spirit of recognition by honouring all Canadians who have served to protect peace and freedom.
